THE GRAVEL GRIND STORY

The first ever gravel grind event was held on May 31, 2015 in conjunction with the Radical Edge and raised over $15,000 to support Special Olympics New Brunswick. Going into our 10th year we plan to continue to raise the bar and provide participants with the most epic recreational ride of the year!

The Gravel Grind is a fundraising event for Special Olympics dedicated to bringing a group of fun, friendly and adventurous people together for a great cause. Although not required riders are strongly encouraged to sign-up online and fundraise. Every dollar goes towards Special Olympics programs right here in the province.

The Gravel Grind is being held in the spirit of the Italian grand fondo; or cross country ski loppet.  Some cyclists ride for the satisfaction and pride of completing an event, while others want to challenge themselves or their friends and be at the front of the pack. No matter your goal, we're stoked to have you join, but please keep in mind that this is not a race. We are devoted to maintaining a laid back and fun atmosphere that can be enjoyed by both recreational and competitive cyclists.

The Gravel Grind is intended to appeal to all types of riders; road, mountain, cyclocross and hybrids. We want this event to be a celebration of cycling, spring and the gathering of like minded individuals. If you enjoy a good challenge, good food, and good drinks, we've got you covered.

In preparation for the event, riders are encouraged to keep an eye on the weather and come prepared.  We recommend bringing bike shorts, a bike jersey (or comfortable athletic shirt), socks, a jacket or vest, gloves, water bottles, extra food for the ride (energy bars, gels, etc.), and extra clothing for the after-party in case you get wet!
